Emails sent to and from Barack Obama a month before he won his first presidential election in 2008 have been published by WikiLeaks — but their contents are "fairly mundane," The Hill reports.

The correspondence includes discussions about potential Cabinet members and a memo about his possible participation in the G-20 summit, according to The Hill.

CNBC reports that one email from John Podesta, who now heads Hillary Clinton's campaign, reads: "Barack, Good meeting yesterday. When we got off on the idea of creating an emergency national economic council, we left unresolved two questions that were contained in my 2 page cover memo."

Podesta asked for fast action on whether William Daley or Daniel Tarullo should run the interim economic staff team early on in the transition, according to CNBC.

The emails, hacked from Democratic officials, are believed by some to be part of a plot by the Russian government to influence the 2016 presidential election.
