People who work at the White House were informed Sunday evening to keep their identification badges hidden until they arrive at the complex amid massive protests related to George Floyd's death in Minneapolis.

Kaitlan Collins of CNN tweeted that the new guidelines were emailed to staffers.

"Tonight the White House cautions staffers who must come to work tomorrow to hide their passes until they reach a Secret Service entry point. The email repeated mandates for maximum telework status & said there is still an 'elevated security posture' due to protests," she wrote.

Collins also attached a screenshot of the purported email, which reads: "If you must come to the complex, keep your pass and PIV card hidden until you reach a USSS entry point. Upon departing complex, ensure your PIV card and complex pass have been put away."

Protests and riots took place in several American cities over the weekend following a police officer's killing of Floyd one week ago. On Friday night, the Secret Service rushed President Donald Trump into the secure bunker under the White House as protesters descended on the complex. Sunday night, fires burned near Lafayette Square, which is across the street from the White House.
