President Donald Trump's rebuke of his attorney general sent tremors throughout the White House because as far as loyal soldiers go, "no one was more loyal than [Jeff] Sessions," CNN reported.
Loyalty is big with Trump, but officials now fear it doesn't work both ways since Trump's interview with The New York Times during which he lambasted Attorney General Jeff Sessions for recusing himself from the Russia investigation, CNN reported.
"No one was more loyal than Sessions," a White House official told CNN.
Trump told The Times that if he knew that Sessions would recuse himself, he would have chosen someone else for attorney general.
"It's chilling," another White House official told CNN.
Sessions on Thursday said he would remain as attorney general.
