As New York continued to reel from the effects of Hurricane Sandy, state Republicans called off a Thursday fundraiser featuring Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and David Koch, the billionaire businessman and philanthropist.
"Our thoughts, concerns and prayers are with all of those who have been impacted by the devastating storm," said a posting on the New York Republican Party’s website. "In consideration, we are postponing our luncheon on Thursday, November 1, with Governor Scott Walker, at the 21 Club, until further notice."
The luncheon was to cost $1,000 per person at the storied midtown Manhattan restaurant, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports. Guests were being asked to pay $2,500 to dine and take a picture with the GOP Walker, to be feted as the "special guest" for the 90-minute event.
Koch was among 10 hosts, the
Journal-Sentinel reports.
