President Donald Trump, saying the ballot “madness” must be stopped, claimed the November election results “may never be accurately determined.”
The president made his comments in tweets posted Thursday morning.
“Because of the new and unprecedented massive amount of unsolicited ballots which will be sent to ‘voters’, or wherever, this year, the Nov 3rd Election result may NEVER BE ACCURATELY DETERMINED, which is what some want. Another election disaster yesterday,” he wrote. “Stop Ballot Madness!”
And Trump added: “The big Unsolicited Ballot States should give it up NOW, before it is too late, and ask people to go to the Polling Booths and, like always before, VOTE. Otherwise, MAYHEM!!! Solicited Ballots (absentee) are OK.”
His comments came after officials in New Jersey’s Sussex County found more than 1,600 ballots from the July primary last week in the elections board office. Fox News reported the ballots were counted and did not change the results in any of the races.
On Wednesday, Trump had said sending out mail-in ballots is a bigger threat to the integrity of the election in November than foreign interference, according to The Hill.
"Our biggest threat to this election is governors from opposing parties controlling ballots, millions of ballots," Trump said at a White House press conference. "To me that’s a much bigger threat than foreign countries because much of the stuff coming out about foreign countries turned out to be untrue."
