Three academics investigated election results and found no evidence of voter fraud, they wrote for The Washington Post.

"Our results do not imply that there was no fraud at all in the 2016 presidential contest, nor do they imply that this contest was error-free," the trio reported.

"They do strongly suggest, however, that the voter fraud concerns fomented and espoused by the Trump campaign are not grounded in any observable features of the 2016 presidential election."

Specifically the trio focused on three different areas of contention brought up by President-elect Donald Trump:

  • Regression model of non-citizens voting.
  • Regression model of dead people voting.
  • Tampering.

The model for non-citizens was flat for both Trump and Hillary Clinton.

However, Trump fared better than Clinton in counties with a higher proportion of recently deceased people, according to their report.

"Trump's vote share is greater than expected — and Democratic turnout is lower than expected — in counties with larger deceased populations," the trio reported. "Once again, this is inconsistent with the claim that voters impersonating dead people helped Clinton and hurt Trump."

The idea of tampering — odd shifts/flips in the count in counties — also showed an advantage for Trump where such flips did occur. The president-elect netted an additional 42,000 votes in those instances.
