DETROIT (AP) — A person familiar with the plans of Michigan Rep. Thaddeus McCotter says the Republican congressman will make a "major announcement" Saturday about whether he will run for president in next year's election.
McCotter's office says he'll be the keynote speaker Saturday at a festival in Whitmore Lake.
A person in contact with the Livonia congressman told The Associated Press on Thursday that McCotter will address whether he'll seek the Republican presidential nomination. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the person isn't authorized to discuss McCotter's plans.
The Associated Press left a message seeking comment Thursday evening from a spokeswoman for McCotter, Michaela Hunley.
McCotter told WJR-AM in Detroit on May 25 that he was seriously considering a presidential run.
