Bill Clinton slammed supporters of Bernie Sanders who heckled him during a campaign stop for his wife, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Fox News reporter Fin Gomez tweeted:
CNN reports the crowd cheered after the former president's response. Clinton told Sanders supporters: "So have a good time."
Supporters of both Sanders and front-runner Hillary Clinton are at odds on the campaign trail.
About a dozen supporters of Sanders shouted, "Bernie beats Trump in all the polls!" according to the
Los Angeles Times.
"There are more of us than there are of you, but there's no point in having a shouting match," Clinton told the Sanders supporters.
Clinton said his wife have "bent over backwards" to keep a positive tone among the Democratic candidates during the campaign.
The former president also directed a slam at Sanders about his voting record, according to CNN. He said Sanders supporters believe anyone that's against Sanders is part of the establishment. "It's a pretty big establishment. It includes the United Farm Workers, because she [Hillary] voted for immigration reform and he didn't."
Clinton made a point to stay positive about the campaign and his wife's opponent. "I don't have anything bad to say about the people that are shouting against Hillary. I think at least we've had the right debate in the Democratic primary," Clinton said, according to CNN.
