Female College Students: We Like Hillary Because She's a Woman

Students at a Seattle university said in recent interviews that they're "ready for Hillary" in 2016 for one reason: her gender.

"She's a woman, and that's literally all," one female student told the website Campus Reform at the University of Washington.

Another female student told the website that Clinton has her vote in 2016 "because it's time we have a female president."

The former first lady, senator and secretary of state kicked off her campaign on Sunday with an online video and then headed by van to Iowa, where she visited several locations, including Kirkwood Community College.

Clinton criticized hedge fund managers and CEOs for their high salaries, saying that "there's something wrong when CEOs make 300 times more than the typical worker."

Further, Clinton told students that "there's something wrong when hedge fund managers pay lower tax rates than nurses or the truckers that I saw on I-80 as I was driving here over the last two days."

But there is one potential candidate who says she could take the emphasis away from Clinton's gender and return the race back to the issues.

"I think that if Hillary Clinton were to face a female nominee, there are a whole set of things that she won't be able to talk about," former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, a likely 2016 candidate, said at a Christian Science Monitor event this week, reports The Washington Times.

"She won't be able to talk about being the first woman president," Fiorina continued. "She won't be able to talk about a war on women without being challenged. She won't be able to play the gender card."
