Many Brooklyn Orthodox Jews are leaning toward voting for Donald Trump, surprising news considering how socially conservative the community is, according to a report in Haaretz.

Local campaign posters refer to Hillary Clinton as evil and videos on Whatsapp and Haredi news sites admit support for Trump, the Republican nominee. The Jewish Press, a right-wing Orthodox newspaper, has also endorsed Trump.

According to Haaretz, one poster made by the Jewish Democrats for Trump movement reads:

"1) Six million Jews perished in the Holocaust within five years. 2) Hillary will appoint anti-religious Supreme Court judges. 3) Hillary will freeze the building of homes for Jews on Israeli settlements. 4) Hillary's plan to bring millions of foreigners from terrorist areas."

Trump's popularity among ultra-Orthodox Jews stems in his ability to "feed fear, and his character," says Haaretz. This support comes despite the fact that Trump's policy on Israel remains blurred.

If there are many Clinton supporters in the Brooklyn community, the majority are silent. And that's odd considering her ties to the area — the Democratic nominee has had a long relationship with the group since her time in the Senate.

"Hillary has proposed much stronger, more muscular foreign policy," said Rabbi Menachem Genack, CEO of Orthodox Union Kosher, at a recent local election debate in Brooklyn.

"For example, Syria. Hillary advised Obama to get involved in Syria to support elements opposed to Assad. As we know, Obama opposed that position, and not only that, he said if Assad uses chemical weapons, that would be a red line. And when Assad did use them, he still didn't respond. We know this as a fact that she opposed his policy."
