Monday night's presidential debate spurred a deleting party on Twitter.

During the debate, a doctored image appeared on the social media network that showed Donald Trump's campaign team had deleted a 2012 tweet about his view on global warming. Several reporters fell for the hoax, including MSNBC host Chris Hayes, Mediaite reported.

When he later realized his mistake, however, Hayes deleted his own tweet that falsely criticized the Trump camp.

Hayes' tweet read: "Trump team deleting all those climate change tweets in real time is just too too perfect."

Others chimed in too, although it appears they did not realize the whole thing was a hoax.
