Trumpeting his approval ratings with Rasmussen Reports and rebuking reports of his ratings being "somewhat low," President Donald Trump tweeted a call for Americans to "turn off the show" if "lying" political pundits continue to espouse "fake news."

President Trump's tweet appears to point to approval ratings from late February, which were then around 50 percent in the Rasmussen Reports' Daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

On the same day eight years ago, Feb. 27, 2010, former President Barack Obama's approval rating was at 43 percent, while President Trump's was 50 percent Feb. 27, 2018, according to the poll.

Despite those numbers, President Trump's more recent polling in Rasmussen reports have suggested "his daily job approval ratings were trending down at week’s end," according to the poll.

After Gallup has quit the field, Rasmussen Reports is the only nationally recognized public opinion firm that still tracks President Trump's job approval ratings on a daily basis.
