President Donald Trump slammed the Obama administration for its release of prisoners from the Guantanamo Bay detention camp.
His tweet came after a former Gitmo detainee died in a U.S. airstrike in Yemen last week.
Yasir al-Silmi was held at Guantanamo Bay from 2002-2009, Fox News reported
"The Pentagon has estimated that at least 30 percent of transferred Guantanamo Bay detainees had returned to the battlefield, killing Americans and U.S. allies," the news network said.
But the Washington Examiner said Trump "inaccurately blames" the Obama administration for all 122 prisoners returning to the battlefield.
It cited a report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence that it said notes 113 of the 122 former detainees, who returned to fight the U.S., were released by former President George W. Bush.
The website said Trump’s tweet was just another salvo in his "mostly-one-sided war of words" with Obama, who he has also claimed tapped phones at Trump Tower just before the election.
