Former President Donald Trump, proclaiming his innocence, says he will plead not guilty in federal court Tuesday.
Trump made his remarks during an interview with Fox News digital on Thursday night.
His comments came after he had announced earlier Thursday that the Department of Justice informed his legal team that a federal grand jury in Miami, Florida, had indicted him.
Through his social media platform Truth Social, Trump asserted that he was summoned to appear before the David W. Dyer Federal Building and United States Courthouse on Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET.
Trump did not confirm if the indictment is related to the sensitive files discovered at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida, but suggested it was likely the case.
During his Fox News interview, Trump said he is "totally innocent" and said the case is "election interference" and "the greatest witch hunt of all time."
"I did absolutely nothing wrong," he said, citing the Presidential Records Act, saying it "makes me totally innocent."
He claimed the indictment was handed down Thursday because it was the same day an allegation surfaced that President Joe Biden had once received $5 million in a bribery scheme.
"This is the most corrupt administration in history — there has never been an administration so corrupt, and they're just starting to find it right now," Trump said. "They are trying to deflect all of their dishonesty by bringing this ridiculous box hoax case."
Trump added: "They're not going to get away with it."
