President Donald Trump slammed "publicity seeking" Sen. Lindsey Graham and claimed the South Carolina Republican misstated his remarks about the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Trump's comments came in tweets posted on Thursday morning:
On Wednesday, Graham had warned Trump that his "words are dividing Americans, not healing them," The Washington Times noted.
Trump has blamed both sides following violent clashes between white supremacists and counter-protesters in Charlottesville over the weekend.
Graham added: "Through his statements … President Trump took a step backward by again suggesting there is moral equivalency between the white supremacist neo-Nazis and KKK members who attended the Charlottesville rally and people like Ms. (Heather) Heyer. I, along with many others, do not endorse this moral equivalency."
Graham's comments referred to the 32-year-old woman who was killed after a man drove a car into counter-protesters over the weekend in Charlottesville.
