One of President Donald Trump's lawyers is calling for the appointment of a second special counsel to probe possible conflicts of interests relating to the investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 presidential election, Axios is reporting.

According to Axios, the new demand was sparked by a Fox News report Monday that Bruce Ohr, a Justice Department official demoted for concealing his meetings with those behind the anti-Trump "dossier," had close ties to Fusion GPS — the company responsible for the controversial document.

Ohr's wife, Nellie, worked for Fusion GPS during the election, Fox News reported. The news network said it was unclear the nature of work she performed for the firm.

"The Department of Justice and FBI cannot ignore the multiple problems that have been created by these obvious conflicts of interests," Jay Sekulow, a member of Trump's legal team told Axios. "These new revelations require the appointment of a special counsel to investigate."

Axios reported the idea of another special prosecutor has been gaining support. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., made his feelings known on Friday in a tweet:
