Trump Jr.: Delegate System Feels Like Communist China

Donald Trump Jr. agrees with his father's criticism of the Republican presidential nomination and delegation selection — but goes even further, saying the system is akin to something right out of communist China.

In an interview Monday with Fox News host Sean Hannity, the younger Trump said after his father's loss of all of Colorado's delegates to rival Sen. Ted Cruz, he didn't feel like the United States was really a democracy anymore.

The remarks were posted by BuzzFeed News.

"Since when should the presidential candidate for the Republican or any other party for that matter to be the president of the United States — when should they have to cater to small group of delegates [as opposed] to what the will of the people actually is," Trump Jr. told Sean Hannity.

"I mean, that's almost mind boggling. I mean, I feel like we're living in communist China, it's ridiculous."

The criticism from the younger Trump, a member of his father's real estate company who's been part of the campaign, comes on the heels of the GOP front-runner's declaration that the delegation process is "rigged."

"They've been wining and dining these people for years, and it does set it up so that you almost have to be establishment, and I can see that," Trump Jr. tells Hannity.

"All the establishment guys, they all want to think that they can be president whether they're qualified or not. Whether they have the temperament or not. Whether they all have the ability or not, they all want to sit there, that's why they're writing their big checks, so they can get a seat at the table."

The Republican National Committee, he said, has been part of an effort to disenfranchise voters.

"The RNC and everyone has been pushing this for a year, 'You got to watch all the debates because your vote counts and your vote matters. Oh, guess what, it actually doesn't. We were just kidding,'" he tells Hannity.

That process "destroys the party in the long run," Trump Jr. said, praising his father for having "given a voice to the people."
