U.S. Attorney John Durham, who is conducting the investigation into the origins of the FBI's investigation into President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign, is "running out the clock" if he's not releasing his findings before this year's election, the president's eldest son Donald Trump Jr. said Tuesday.
"It's absolutely disgusting," Trump Jr. told Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo while discussing her revelations that the Durham results may not be coming out. "I assume he's just running out the clock, being part of big government, protecting those institutions."
Bartiromo reported on her "Sunday Morning Futures" program on Fox News this week that according to her sources, releasing the results or indictments before the election can be viewed as politically motivated. She also reported that the investigation is "significant and it is expanding," and pointed to a report in The New York Times that said Durham is also looking into the FBI's investigation of potential pay-to-play and bribery at the Clinton Foundation.
Trump Jr. said Tuesday that the 27 FBI staffers on special counsel Robert Mueller's team who had their phone information erased after the investigation ended should "be going to jail."
"Imagine if I told them, 'Oh, yeah, I forgot my iPhone password, I entered the wrong one in so many times that my phone deleted,'" said Trump Jr. "That happened 27 times."
It's important for Durham to release the report, he added, because of Democrat nominee Joe Biden's involvement.
"If you are running against Bernie Sanders, he wasn't involved," said Trump Jr. "Joe Biden was the number two guy in the Obama administration that was part of all this stuff going on. He was the guy that unmasked me eight days prior to the election. We're not supposed to know if this guy was an intimate part of what is going on because it could affect the election?"
The cloud of Russian involvement has been over the Trump administration for four years, Trump Jr. added, and he said he is fed up and knows many Americans are, too.
"That is why people are voting for Donald Trump — because they want to take down the system that is corrupted and broken," he said.
The president's son also commented on Tuesday night's debate, saying that since Biden hasn't been campaigning, he's been able to "prep for this forever."
"Irrespective of what happens, as long as he doesn't drop dead on the debate stage, they are going to say he won anyway," said Trump Jr.
