Donald Trump Jr. says in a new interview that he'd rather go "six months one-on-one" with former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg as a challenger to his father's presidency than to face Sen. Bernie Sanders, as Bloomberg does not have a "real following" and has "never been around a real person."

"It is literally a case study to see if you can spend enough money to buy and manipulate the American people," the president's oldest son told the Charlie Kirk Show about Bloomberg, reports Newsweek, citing a podcast provided ahead of its release. "He can't do it with his own personality. That's the one thing he can't buy is personality, but he can try and create one online by paying people a lot of money."

He was commenting a New York Times report that Bloomberg's campaign had been paying social media influencers to run memes about him.

"I would actually take a real following as opposed to a bought following any day," Trump Jr. said. He also referenced Bloomberg's comments on the "stop-and-frisk" policing policy, telling Kirk that judging by how Bloomberg spoke on a released video about minorities, "you could hear he doesn't think of them as human."

Meanwhile, Sanders "actually has a real following," Trump Jr. said. "He has people that actually believe in him. And I think that means more than the money."

He also said he thinks the Democratic Party will "do whatever they can to screw Bernie" out of the nomination, and he hopes it will "pick a candidate for an electorate they're clearly out of touch with because every time they do it seems to work to our benefit."
