Donald Trump is a "bully" who must be dealt with by using the same browbeating tactics against him, Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" show, told Politico
"He's a bully, and you don't let bullies bully people. You just mock him," Scarborough told the political news website in a recent interview.
"See, the one thing Donald Trump can't stand is people calling him out, and instead of becoming indignant about it, laugh at him. Which he hates," Scarborough said. "Oh, really? Really, Donald? … He is insecure. That's always driven him — I'll say it — bat**** crazy."
Scarborough believes none of this year’s crop of presidential candidates knew how to get to the billionaire real-estate tycoon and presumptive GOP presidential nominee "at the gut level."
He added that Trump would have met his match if he had been facing George W. Bush in the series of televised GOP debates.
"[He would have] cut Trump to shreds," Scarborough said.
Asawin Suebsaeng, a columnist for The Daily Beast
, said in a piece published Wednesday that Scarborough's tough new tone with Trump shows "the bromance" between the two "is finally, finally over—and quite possibly dead."
"For months, Scarborough and his ‘Morning Joe’ co-host Mika Brzezinski have been criticized for their warm relationship — friendship, even — with Trump, now the presumptive Republican presidential nominee," Suebsaeng wrote.
"This week, however, it appears as though the real-estate mogul's repeated racist attacks on 'Mexican' Judge Gonzalo Curiel have at long last turned Scarborough into a fiercely vocal critic."
