Trump: Ivanka, Eric Won't Be Able To Vote for Their Dad

Major polls show Donald Trump holding a commanding lead in his home state of New York, but two of his biggest fans — his son, Eric and daughter, Ivanka — won't be able to vote for him because they didn't register as Republicans in time.

"They were unaware of the rules," Trump told Fox News' "Fox & Friends," and as a result, "they feel very, very guilty. They feel very guilty, but it's fine."

According to New York's voting laws, new voters had until March 25 to register to vote in the state's closed primary, but the deadline to change party affiliation happened back in October.

Trump joked on the show that there will be "no more allowance" for his son and daughter, and rejected a question about whether Ivanka's failure to register to vote means that he couldn't choose her as a running mate.

"Well, number one, I wouldn't be doing that, although a lot of people would like to see that," Trump said, while praising his daughter, who recently gave birth to her third child, as "absolutely" doing a good job.

"A lot of people would like that choice, but it won't happen," Trump told the program. "That I will tell you, it won't happen."
