Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted an invitation from CNN to participate in a town hall on Oct. 23, her campaign announced on Thursday.
"Trump may want to hide from the voters, but Vice President Harris welcomes the opportunity to share her vision for a New Way Forward for the country," Harris campaign chair Jen O'Malley Dillon said in an official statement. "This will be a unique opportunity for voters to hear directly from the Vice President on her commitment to be a President for all Americans and her plans to lower families' costs, protect our freedoms including reproductive freedom, and keep us safe and secure."
On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump once again rejected calls for a second debate with Harris following multiple attempts by networks to land a much-anticipated rematch.
"I won the last two debates, one with crooked Joe, the other with lyin' Kamala. I accepted the Fox-News invitation to debate Kamala on September 4th, but she turned it down - I am also leading in the polls, with the lead getting bigger by the day - and leading in all swing states," Trump wrote in all caps on his Truth Social Media platform.
Also on Wednesday, Fox News Media offered to host a debate between Harris and Trump in Pennsylvania later this month. The network had proposed a similar format to that of the CNN debate in June between Trump and President Joe Biden.
CNN has also extended an invitation to the Trump campaign for the former president to participate in the town hall. Newsmax has reached out to the Trump campaign for comment.
