President Donald Trump defended his son on Monday and said “most politicians” would have attended the meeting Donald Jr. had with a Kremlin-linked lawyer during last year’s campaign.

Trump’s comments came in a tweet on Monday.

His remarks echoed those he made last week at a news conference in Paris, Politico noted.

Trump Jr. attended the June 2016 meeting, along with the then-candidate’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort after he was told information on opponent Hillary Clinton would be disclosed.

He has said nothing substantive came out of the meeting.

The website said the meeting has become a focal point of ongoing scrutiny into the campaign’s relationship with Russia, according to Politico.
