President Donald Trump Tuesday, while discussing the Los Angeles County deputies who were shot during a weekend ambush, said a much more tough stance must be taken on crime and accused the nation's Democrat-run cities of "getting weak and soft."
"Take a look at the cities," Trump said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "The top 10 are Democrat-run, the top 25 are I think almost all Democrat-run, and their policies are horrible. They've taken respect away from police officers. They've degraded them. They've fired them."
In New York City, many police have been fired, and "crime is through the roof," said Trump. "They make it so if you speak up, you end up losing your pension, you end up losing your job."
He noted that police in Chicago and New York City have endorsed him, which is not easy because of their leadership.
"I can't imagine anybody endorsing (Joe) Biden with his views," said Trump. "I mean his views are death. He doesn't have any views."
Trump also commented about the climate change debate in connection with the massive fires on the west coast.
"You have forests all over the world," he said. "You don't have fires like you do in California. In Europe, they have forest cities. You look at countries, Austria and so many countries they live in the forest and they consider forest cities so many of them, and they don't have fires like this."
Trump insisted that he wants "perfect clean air" and "immaculate clean water," but "we're not putting our businesses out of business ... we wouldn't be competitive as a country anymore and there are people that don't care about that. They say that's okay. Put everybody out of business. They really don't care. The Green New Deal is a farce. "
