President Donald Trump took aim Tuesday morning at Canada's dairy practices.

The president first criticized Canada's actions early last week during a visit to Wisconsin and vowed the U.S. would "stand up for our dairy farmers," stating his administration would be "reporting back sometime over the next two weeks," CNN reported.

Later in the week the president called Canada a "disgrace" for it's policies that hurt American farmers, while speaking in the Oval Office.

"Canada, what they've done to our dairy farm workers, it's a disgrace," Trump said. "Farmers in Wisconsin and New York state are being put out of business."

Dairy farmers in Canada have recently cut their prices, undercutting dairy farmers in the U.S. who are already feeling the effects, with some farmers going out of business. Canada also places import tariffs and other measures to protect its dairy industry.

U.S. dairy associations have called the practices unfair and asked for help from the Trump administration.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded to Trump's remarks, stating Canada would stick with their current policies in spite of the criticism, Bloomberg reported last week.

"The U.S. has a $400 million dairy surplus with Canada so it's not Canada that's the challenge here," Trudeau said Thursday, and added other countries subsidize their agriculture industries.

"Let's not pretend we're in a global free market when it comes to agriculture," Trudeau added.

Trump has also criticized Canada for what he considered unfair labor practices in the lumber industry.
