President Donald Trump's approval rating reached 51 percent on Friday, one of his highest ratings this year, according to Rasmussen Reports.

Likely voters were asked to rate Trump's job performance for Rasmussen's daily Presidential Tracking Poll released Friday.

  • 51 percent approve of Trump's job performance.
  • 49 percent disapprove.
  • 80 percent of Republicans approve; 20 percent disapprove.
  • 20 percent of Democrats approve; 79 percent disapprove.
  • 46 percent of independents approve; 52 percent disapprove.

Despite the improvement, Trump's average approval rating remains negative, according to RealClearPolitics, where his approval rating stands at 43.8 percent approve, 52.6 percent disapprove on average.

These results include Rasmussen's most recent poll, as well as surveys from the Economist, Monmouth and Gallup.

Rasmussen polls 500 likely voters by phone per night on a three-day basis. The margin of error for a full sample of 1,500 likely voters is +/- 2.5 percentage points.
