One of President Donald Trump's appointees has been quietly checking Americans diplomats and those employed by agencies including the United Nations and the World Health Organization to see if they are loyal to Trump and his political agenda, Foreign Policy reports.

Mari Stull, former lobbyist and blogger, has reportedly checked the social media pages of State Department staffers to see if they disagree with Trump, and has researched various government officials to see if they approved policies from Trump's predecessor, former President Barack Obama.

"She is actively making lists and gathering intel," an unnamed senior diplomat told Foreign Policy.

Stull became a senior advisor to the State Department's Bureau of International Organization Affairs, which controls American diplomatic relations with various international bodies, in April.

Sources told Foreign Policy that her inquiries and her "highly secretive management style" have driven three senior officials to leave the bureau: deputy assistant secretaries of state Molly Phee, Erin Barclay and Nerissa Cook.

"She is gunning for American citizens in the U.N. to see if they are toeing the line," the diplomatic source said.

"Everyone is looking to bail," said an unnamed State Department official.

Although bureau head Kevin Moley, appointed in January, seems to support Stull, it's unclear whether her actions have been approved or ordered by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo or any other top-ranking State officials, or if she decided to conduct the probe.

A State Department spokesperson told Foreign Policy that Moley and Stull "are committed to President Trump's vision of strong American leadership on the world stage, and the mission of of the Bureau of International Organization Affairs, which is charged with advancing U.S. national interest by engaging with the United Nations and other international agencies and organizations."

"Secretary Pompeo has shown his full support for career staff at the State Department and at the Central Intelligence Agency," the spokesperson said. "Political retribution of any kind will not be tolerated and we take these allegations very seriously."
