Tim Kaine: Clinton Campaign Already Spent Weinstein Donations

Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., denounced the sexual harassment allegations leveled at film producer Harvey Weinstein and said donations he made to the Clinton-Kaine presidential campaign have already been spent.

During an appearance on CNN's "New Day," Kaine was asked what lawmakers should do with money Weinstein has given to them.

"These allegations are low-life behavior. They're just unacceptable," said Kaine, who was Hillary Clinton's running mate in last year's presidential election.

When asked if the Clinton-Kaine campaign should return Weinstein's sizable donation of nearly $50,000, Kaine seemed guarded and said that is in the rearview mirror.

"The campaign is over," said Kaine, who then pivoted to once again criticize Weinstein's reported behavior toward women. "You gotta call out bad behavior. Anybody who sexually harasses somebody, or anybody who uses their position of power, especially, to coerce or intimidate somebody, that's low-life behavior and it's unacceptable.

"Whether it's in government or media or business, it's unacceptable. You gotta call it out. I think a number of folks who he has given money to in this campaign cycle are returning those funds. I haven't asked him for anything, he hasn't given me anything."

Kaine wouldn't specifically say whether Clinton herself should speak out against the allegations, saying only, "Any leader should condemn this."
