President Donald Trump on Monday signed a "historic" executive order Monday that will keep foreign workers from taking federal contract jobs that should go to Americans, White House Special Assistant on Policy Theodore Wold told Newsmax TV.
The action came after the president fired the chair of the Tennessee Valley Authority as punishment for hiring H-1B foreign workers to do jobs Americans are talented enough to perform.
"The president signed this executive order to limit the ability of the federal government to hire foreign labor, but he also fired the board of directors and one other member, with a clear message: Rescind this action and undo these decisions, or I will take more actions against the board," Wold told Tuesday's "Greg Kelly Reports." "[Monday] was a historic moment . . . to see a sitting United States president openly and explicitly take the side of America's hard-working men and women.
"Also, he delivered a great message to his fellow citizens, which is 'do not believe the lie.'"
Last year, the United States had close to 400,000 H-1B Visa holders, who largely held tech jobs. About 72% of those workers were from India, and 65% worked occupations that are "computer-related."
"Do not believe the lie that America's hard-working men and women don't have the talent or the ability or the credentials to lead this country in the information age," Wold told host Greg Kelly. "It's a lie peddled by the corporate elites in the swamp, and the president put proof to that lie and said instead hire American, buy American-made goods."
