Texas Sen. Ted Cruz will head to Colorado next week to campaign for a Senate candidate he endorsed Friday.
Darryl Glenn is one of five Republicans vying for inclusion on the November ballot, and, according to the Dallas Morning News
, Cruz has pledged his support.
Cruz will reportedly travel to the Centennial State on Monday to campaign for the man who Democrats there have called a "far right, never-compromise conservative."
"I am proud to stand with the grass roots in Colorado supporting Darryl Glenn in his campaign for the U.S. Senate," Cruz said in a statement, reports the Dallas Morning News. Cruz called Glenn a "committed public servant and small business owner."
Glenn currently serves as El Paso County commissioner.
A Denver Post editorial
last month called Glenn and two of the other Republicans in the race "Ted Cruz wannabes."
Glenn scored the backing of the Senate Conservatives Fund in May, a big boost to his campaign that had, according to the Denver Post
, $11,000 at the end of March.
Cruz dined with
some prominent conservatives in Virginia this week as he ponders his political future in the wake of his failed presidential campaign.
