In his first interview since a high-profile argument with a CNN reporter in the White House briefing room last week, senior adviser to the president Stephen Miller said Tuesday the media has become extreme.
"There are segments of the extreme media, and I wouldn't call it mainstream, because it's extreme to want no borders, it's extreme to want to have unlimited, cheap migration," Miller told Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight."
"These are extreme positions. The extreme media is going to do whatever they can to tear down this president, but as long as the people stand for what they want and what they believe, we are going to keep winning."
Miller and CNN's Jim Acosta argued about a merit-based immigration system backed by President Donald Trump last week, which reportedly resulted in Miller receiving high-fives from his fellow White House staffers.
Miller said Tuesday he has not heard from Acosta since their viral exchange.
Trump and the White House criticize the mainstream media on a near daily basis, calling it out for what it feels is a bias against the president.
"President Trump is the most gifted politician of our time, and he's the best orator to hold that office in generations," Miller retorted Tuesday. "So we're gonna take the message out to the people."
