A tweet sent out over the weekend by Dolly Parton’s sister, Stella, criticizing politicians over the coronavirus vaccine has gone viral, The Hill reported on Sunday.
Stella Parton, herself a country music singer, referring to her sister’s donation to support research for Moderna's coronavirus vaccine, wrote on Twitter that “If a little Hillbilly singer like my big sister Dolly can invest in the vaccine then why the hell can’t some of you old moldy politicians pitch in a few million yourselves?”
The tweet generated well over 350,000 likes in just the past two days and came as congressmen continued attempts to hammer out an agreement for coronavirus relief legislation, which was eventually reached late on Sunday.
Stella Parton also slammed politicians who “started getting vaccinated right away while people are starving and dying.”
The Hill pointed out, however, that some of those in public service did so in order to instill trust in the vaccine among the general population amid fears that it might be harmful.
She also vented her anger at televangelists in another tweet, writing that “I haven’t heard of one Televangelist donating one damn cent to the research fund but they sure can fleece the flock and try to cast out demons when they are possessed themselves!”
