The Democratic establishment appears to be pulling out all stops in protecting former Republican and now Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter against primary challenger Joe Sestak.
And the party is pouring money into the fray as well, according to The Plum Line column in The Washington Post.
“The national Democratic Party is pouring cash into funding Specter's TV ad campaign starring President Obama, I'm told,” wrote the column’s author, Greg Sargent.
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is paying for the ads for Specter, who was a Republican for most of his career until he switched parties just over a year ago. At the expense of lifelong Democrat Sestak.
