President Donald Trump's proposed U.S.-Mexico border wall will not stem the flow of illegal drugs and immigrants into the United States, smugglers tell the Texas Tribune.

"As long as the people here in the United States buy the drugs, it's not going to stop," one unidentified trafficker told the newspaper.

And a former smuggler of immigrants told the Tribune a wall won't slow the tide of illegals flowing in because there is always a Border Patrol agent or customs official willing to take a bribe and look the other way.

The newspaper also points to a government report that indicates drug smugglers mostly bring their product into the U.S. through ports of entry — not across the river where the wall would be built.
