Former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke's Twitter account reportedly was temporarily suspended after posts that implied threats of violence against the media.

According to CNN, in one of the posts, which has since been deleted, Clarke tweeted: "When LYING LIB MEDIA makes up MAKE NEWS to smear me, the ANTIDOTE is to go right at them. Punch them in the nose & MAKE THEM TASTE THEIR OWN BLOOD. Nothing gets a bully like LYING LIB MEDIA"S attention better than to give them a taste of their own blood #neverbackdown."

The tweet featured a graphic of Trump's face superimposed on that of a wrestler holding another wrestler labeled "CNN," while Clarke's face was superimposed on a wrestler who is kicking "CNN" in the face.

CNN reported a Twitter use who complained shared the email response from Twitter in which the company stated, "We have reviewed the account you reported and have locked it because we found it to be in violation of the Twitter Rules… If the account owner complies with our requested actions and stated policies, the account will be unlocked."

Business Insider correspondent Natasha Bertrand also reported the suspension.

Clarke was unbowed on Tuesday.

And in earlier tweets, he also defended himself.

According to Talking Points Memo, Clarke's anger was triggered by a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report that the FBI had sought a warrant to search a Gmail account belonging to him, in order to investigate whether he had used his office to improperly detain a man who had shaken his head at Clarke on a plane.

Federal prosecutors ultimately decided not to pursue charges against him.
