Conservative financier Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam have committed $45 million to the Donald Trump campaign and to PACs that support Republican candidates in the House and Senate, according to CNN.
The billionaire will disclose that he has given $20 million to the Senate Leadership Fund super PAC and a similar amount of money to the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC focused on the House of Representatives.
Adelson, the chairman of Las Vegas Sands casinos, is expected to announce a donation of at least $5 million to an operation headed by the Ricketts family, who are also promoting Trump. He may send money to nonprofits led by the Ricketts who are not required to disclose their funding sources, CNN reports.
According to The Wall Street Journal, TD Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts donated $6 million to an anti-Trump super PAC, but now is devoting $1 million to support Trump.
Adelson is the most prolific Republican donor in recent elections, and the most influential donor overall, CNN reports. He gave at least $93 million to conservative groups in the 2012 presidential election, but sat out during the Republican primary.
The American Crossroads super PAC network funds the Senate Leadership Fund, and will report that it has raised $28 million in August, a positive note for Trump supporters who struggle to finance TV advertising for the candidate.
Adelson's advice may have led to a notable Trump announcement saying he regretted some of his comments after a meeting with Adelson.
During the Republican National Convention, Adelson refused to allow Sen. Ted Cruz to enter his luxury suite after the Texas senator failed to endorse Trump.
