Senate Democrats Said to Circulate Letter Backing Yellen For Fed

Thursday, 25 July 2013 09:58 PM EDT

A group of Senate Democrats is rallying behind Federal Reserve Board Vice Chairman Janet Yellen to succeed Chairman Ben S. Bernanke, circulating a letter to colleagues in support of her potential candidacy, according to a Senate aide.

The letter has been signed by several Democrats and was originally drafted by Senator Sherrod Brown, an Ohio Democrat, said the aide, who asked for anonymity to discuss the document, which hasn’t been made public. The exact number of signers remained unknown to Senate staff, the aide said.
