The Secret Service rented portable restroom trailers at a cost of $7,100 during President Donald Trump's working vacation at his Bedminster, N.J. golf club, according to USA Today.
The progressive PAC American Bridge noted purchase orders that showed the Secret Service spending the money to rent the restrooms from Aug. 3 to Aug. 21.
The Secret Service also paid $13,500 to rent golf carts during Trump’s vacation, according to the report.
The service is barred from taking funding or resources that Congress has not appropriated, including hotel rooms — so it must pay when its agents work for Trump at properties the president owns, such as his golf club and his Florida property, Mar-a-Lago.
"Leave it to Donald Trump to find a way to spend thousands of taxpayer dollars on port-a-potty. This man is literally flushing our money down the toilet," said American Bridge spokesperson Brad Brainum.
The Secret Service is facing issues of payment for agents. USA Today reported on Monday that the organization did not have the funds to pay agents overtime to protect Trump and his family members.
Secret Service Director Randolph "Tex" Alles said in a memo Wednesday that he was "fighting" to get compensation for over 1,000 agents, according to USA Today.
