Sebastian Gorka, a former deputy assistant to President Donald Trump, has joined the MAGA Coalition, a new group that supports political candidates that would "compete against globalist corporatist interests," according to Axios.

Gorka will be the "chief strategist" of the new group, Axios reports, the same position that Steve Bannon held during his tenure in Trump's White House.

The former deputy assistant will make his first appearance for the group alongside Sarah Palin in Montgomery, Alabama on Thursday.

"The MAGA Coalition is a national network of over 5,000,000 America First citizens who share in the belief that both our national parties have taken America down the wrong path. World-class healthcare, a thriving job market, an end to endless wars, and nation building is what we are about. We want our politicians to put American families first and to adhere to our founding traditions and values," according to a statement on its website.

The Montgomery rally is in support of Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, who is opposing incumbent Sen. Luther Strange in a runoff.

Axios notes that while the MAGA Coalition rally is in support of Moore, Trump has endorsed Strange, and will speak in support of Strange at a Saturday rally in Alabama.

"A month ago, Gorka and Steve Bannon were working in President Trump's White House. Now they are preparing to go head-to-head against the president to support a candidate who is loathed by the same establishment that originally loathed Trump," according to Axios referring to Moore, who has made controversial statements such as suggesting that the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks were a punishment from God.
