White House press secretary Sean Spicer will likely no longer give daily briefings to reporters after President Donald Trump returns from his first foreign trip, Politico reported.

It's the latest in a series of rumors and rumblings about Spicer that started almost since Day 1 of Trump's administration. It also comes amid speculation that Trump — again — is considering changes to his White House staff.

Spicer has been the flashpoint for Trump's unhappiness with the communications team he hired to deliver his message and be the frontline defender for his policies and, lately and most acutely, the torrent of crises and criticism being lobbed at the president.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who filled in for Spicer the two days after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, is expected to take the lion's share of press briefings, though Trump is considering cutting down — or eliminating — on the number of briefings, Politico reported.

Spicer is expected to keep his job but be more behind the scenes.

Rumors of Fox's Kimberly Guilfoyle being a possible replacement for Spicer were debunked by the White House and seemed to be self-serving.
