Anthony Scaramucci, who was President Donald Trump's communications director, has told friends that the president wants him back in the White House, The Daily Beast reported.

Three sources close to Scaramucci independently told The Daily Beast he brags about talking to Trump on the phone and that he would return to work in the White House.

However, a number of sources in and outside the White House told The Daily Beast not to believe Scaramuccci's claims.

"It would amaze and shock me if the president still talks to (Scaramucci) or is considering rehiring him after what happened. And that is coming from someone who works in a place where nothing surprises me anymore," one senior White House official told the Daily Beast.

In texts to The Daily Beast, Scaramucci denied the report: "I have said nothing like that at all… don't believe BS."

The former member of Trump's transition team was removed from the White House in July after a week and a half. During his stint, he facilitated the departure of press secretary Sean Spicer, and accidentally went on record with The New Yorker blasting then-senior adviser Steve Bannon and calling Reince Priebus a "paranoid schizophrenic."

Scaramucci's remarks "disgusted" and "offended" Melania Trump and Ivanka Trump, according to NBC News.

Scaramucci said Sunday that Trump hired him to be a "hatchet" man to help him fire "bad actors" in the White House.
