Sarah Palin on Thursday accused the Washington establishment of misleading President Donald Trump, saying at an Alabama rally that the swamp is "trying to hijack this presidency," The Washington Post reported.

Palin — and other Trump supporters — finds herself in opposition to Trump on the primary runoff election in Alabama to fill Jeff Sessions' seat, where she is endorsing the ever-controversial Roy Moore.

Trump, meanwhile, has backed interim Sen. Luther Strange, who has the support of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

"The forgotten man and woman in this country, they stood up, and we beat the swamp. But . . . 10 months later, the swamp, it's trying to hijack this presidency," Palin said at a rally for Moore in Montgomery, the Post reported.

"The swamp is trying to steal the victory that we worked so long and hard for . . . We voted to put America first, not the political elite that had ignored us for decades," the Post quoted Palin.

The president is staking his influence against a row of familiar faces on the other side who are backing Moore: Stephen Bannon, Sean Hannity, Rep. Louie Gohmert, Laura Ingraham and Sebastian Gorka.

All are careful not to criticize Trump, but rather they suggest the president is being misled by the Republican establishment.

"A vote for Judge Moore isn't a vote against the president," Palin said, the Post reported. "It is a vote for the people's agenda that elected the president . . . The president needs support to keep the promises that elected him. So we're sending Trump someone who has our back, not Mitch McConnell's . . . Make no mistake, 'Big Luther' is Mitch McConnell's guy."

Moore, who leads in the polls, is the former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court who was twice-removed from the bench, the last time for defying the U.S. Supreme Court's landmark same-sex marriage ruling; Moore continued the ban.

The primary runoff is Tuesday, Sept. 26.
