Huckabee Sanders Avoids Answering If She's Replacing Spicer

White House press secretary Sean Spicer's deputy Sarah Huckabee Sanders dodged a question about replacing her boss while on Fox News Wednesday.

When asked if she will be promoted to press secretary if Spicer leaves the post to become White House communications director, Sanders said, "Look, we all serve at the pleasure of the president."

She added, "Right now, I'm trying to be the very best I can in the job I have."

Reports emerged this week that Spicer is being considered for the now-vacant role of communications director, but no official announcement has been made. When asked about it during a press briefing, he neither confirmed nor denied the rumors.

"Look, it's no secret we've had a couple vacancies, including a communications director who's [been] gone for a while," Spicer said Tuesday, according to The Washington Post. "We've been seeking input from individuals, as far as ideas that they have, and we've been meeting with potential people that may be of service to this administration. I don't think that should come as any surprise.

"But we're always looking for ways to do a better job of articulating the president's message and his agenda, and we'll continue to have those discussions internally. When we have an announcement of a personnel nature, we'll let you know."

When asked if she would accept the job if President Donald Trump offered it, Sanders replied that she doubts "a lot of people turn the president down on anything he asks them to do."

She went on to defend the Trump press team, and the president's Twitter activity.

"I think one of the powers of this presidency is the ability to communicate directly to Americans with an unfiltered bias the media often [puts] on things. He's got a social media platform that allows him to communicate with over 107 million people. That is a massive ability to connect without having to use that same conventional process that's been done every day."
