Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani says the video of the Rayshard Brooks shooting this weekend in Atlanta might "justify" the use of deadly force.

Giuliani tweeted:

"Whatever the Atlanta shooting is, it is not the George Floyd case. This video appears to present circumstances which may justify this use of force. The only responsible position is to suspend judgment until a full investigation is done."

Brooks, 27, was shot by an Atlanta police officer late Friday after failing a sobriety test and resisting arrest. The police camera video released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation showed a violent struggle with police, who begged Brooks to stop fighting before shots were fired.

It is not clear which video Giuliani was referring to. A Wendy's surveillance video appears to show Brooks being shot while trying to flee after the melee with police.

Another police dash cam video shows the melee, including Brooks taking a police taser and running with it.

Another body cam video shows Brooks a device rendering a .108 on his blood-alcohol level, before breaking away from the arrest.

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced Police Chief Erika Shields' resignation at a Saturday afternoon news conference and had called for the immediate firing of the officer who opened fire.

"I do not believe that this was a justified use of deadly force," Bottoms said.

The terminated officer was identified as Garrett Rolfe, who was hired in October 2013, and the officer placed on administrative duty is Devin Brosnan, who was hired in September 2018, according to a release from police spokesperson Sgt. John Chafee.

Information from the Associated Press was used in this report.
