Giuliani: Hillary Lost Over Obamacare, Not Comey

By    |   Sunday, 13 Nov 2016 10:13 AM

Hillary Clinton Saturday blamed FBI James Comey for losing the White House,
but former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Sunday Obamacare was more likely the culprit.

"Why you won an election and why you didn't is a subject of, you know, books that get written 20 years later," Giuliani, a close Trump advisor whose name has been mentioned for several key Cabinet posts, told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos on the "This Week" program.

"[What] we put up front in all of Donald Trump's speeches for the last two or three weeks was not the FBI, but Obamacare. That seemed to me to be the thing that moved the votes in Michigan, that moved the votes in places [like] Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, the blue states we were able to turn red and basically haven't been red since Ronald Reagan," Giuliani said.

Giuliani said his potential role in Trump's presidency is a discussion he'll have with the president-elect, not publicly, moving away from a question about whether he wants to be the new secretary of State, and saying he is happy in his private life and career.

Giuliani also called a question over whether Trump will go ahead with a special prosecutor for Clinton a "tough one," as on one hand, such a move could look like a "vindictive prosecution," but still "you want equal justice under the law."

There is also a great deal of anger in the streets after Trump's election, and Giuliani on Sunday said he believes "professional protesters" may be involved — and he's also been attacked.

"I was in one a couple of days ago where they saw me in the car and they started banging on my car," said the former mayor. "I'm not sure these are even Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama supporters. I think these people are, you know, kind of like professional protesters."

And if the protesters were out there following a Hillary Clinton election, Giuliani said he thinks there would be "a lot more anger in the media."

"I think we understand their frustration," he said. "We certainly don't want to make it worse. I think they're exaggerating the fears of a Donald Trump presidency because they're coming off a campaign where they're very disappointed. I'm sure our supporters would have been very disappointed had Donald Trump not won and I just hope it's calming down."
