President Donald Trump has asked Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel to serve a second term following a year of record-breaking fundraising for the GOP, per a report in Axios.

The RNC pulled in $16 million in August, surpassing $250 million for the pivotal midterm elections. Under McDaniel, the RNC has repeatedly outraised the Democratic National Committee.

She is well-known for her staunch support of Trump and his policies and has harshly criticized his critics within the Republican Party.

The party faces an uphill battle in the November elections, but the RNC under McDaniel plans to spend $250 million to protect majorities in both chambers.

Per Axios, Trump has also been impressed with McDaniel’s work on behalf of the America First Agenda, the primary super PAC dedicated to electing federal candidates who support the agenda of the Trump-Pence administration.
