A toxic combination of radical protests inspired by hate-filled organizations like Black Lives Matter, fueled by politicians and financed by billionaires such as George Soros, have contributed to the rise in violent crime rates over the past few years, Former FBI Assistant Director Ron Hosko said Sunday on "The Cats Roundtable" radio show.

The more than 50 percent increase in the number of felonious killings of police officers nationwide to 66 in 2016 from 41 the year before is very troubling, Hosko told the show's host John Catsimatidis on AM 970 in New York.

Although Hosko said he is a big supporter of First Amendment rights such as free speech, he insisted that "We've seen [those rights] used irresponsibly by Black Lives Matter protesters and certainly by hateful voices on the far right… I think it's having an impact with people who are already on the fringe, who are already troubled.

"America has plenty of killers on the streets, and plenty of people who are inspired by this sort of hateful rhetoric: 'Pigs in a blanket, fry them like bacon. What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want it? Now!'" he added.

Making the situation worse, Hosko said, is that "There is a strong supposition that there is money flowing behind the scenes [for these hate groups] from billionaire financiers. The name George Soros comes up in every one of these conversations. Soros does seem a person who is looking to foment dissent in America, hate in America, upheaval in America. I don't know if his goal is anarchy. But there is a strong believe that, not just Soros, but other organizations around the country, are certainly pouring some money into Black Lives Matter for protests."

Stressing that this should be a time for police vigilance, especially with a significant rise in the number of ambushes of policemen, Hosko said what is particularly disturbing about the increase in the murder of officers is that 51 of the policemen killed in the line of duty out of the 62 murdered by firearms last year were wearing body armor.

This emphasizes the point, Hosko said, that "body armor is not foolproof, because high-powered weapons like we saw used in Las Vegas are going to go through most soft body armor that is worn by law enforcement, let alone shots at an officer's head or neck or other areas… that are not covered by body armor."
