Poll: Romney Ahead of Pack in New Hampshire

By    |   Monday, 14 February 2011 08:24 PM EST

Mitt Romney is building a huge lead against his potential presidential rivals in the first primary state of New Hampshire, according to a new poll released Monday. Romney receives 40 percent support, according to the WMUR Granite State Poll of likely Republican primary voters, 30 points more than his next closest competitor, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Hotline On Call reported.

Of course, it’s really no surprise that the former governor of nearby Massachusetts is running strong in the Granite State - he also owns a home there, Hotline pointed out.

Still, it’s nice to be ahead of the pack. Of course, it does mean that you’re a clearer target for your would-be rivals. And Romney is being derided for the healthcare plan he established in Massachusetts.

Romney's rivals still have time to make inroads -- the poll found 78 percent of likely voters still haven't made up their minds.
