Mitt Romney has turned the corner in the crucial battleground state of Wisconsin, opening up a one-point lead in the Badger State, according to a new poll.
The Public Policy Polling shows the Republican presidential nominee leading President Barack Obama 48 percent to 47 percent, the
Washington Times reported, which match the numbers from a Rasmussen Reports poll released last week.
Obama beat Sen. John McCain of Arizona in Wisconsin by 14 percentage points in 2008. The president has led in Wisconsin polls but that lead has slipped since Romney announced Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate.
Wisconsin independents are abandoning Obama, who has seen his lead among them shrink from 14 points last month to four now.
Last week, the battleground state went from "lean Obama" to true "toss-up” in the wake of Romney’s announcement of Ryan as his running mate, CNN reported.
