Whitewater's Robert Ray Says Biden Should Be Investigated

The relationship of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter with Ukraine and China warrant investigation, because "it could be" high crimes or misdemeanors, according to former Whitewater prosecutor Robert Ray.

"It's the sort of thing that certainly indicates cozy relationships potentially impacting the official actions of the vice president while he was serving," Ray told "The Cats Roundtable" on 970 AM-N.Y.

"They can't deny the relationship, and they can't deny the fact that Hunter Biden was on the board [of the Chinese fund]. And they can't deny the fact that the [$1.5 billion] moved over," he added to host John Catsimatidis.

"If certain things were done in order to affect the vice president's official actions while in office, that would present an issue warranting further investigation. And that's why, I think among other things, John Durham in Connecticut is likely to look at that as well."

Also, Ray expects Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz is going to find wrongdoing by the Obama administration in its secret investigation of the Trump campaign.

"I think that the FBI dangerously strayed from its mission," Ray told Catsimatidis. "I think the intelligence community was involved."

"I expect that you're likely to see referrals to the Justice Department for prosecution of people in the intelligence community, including those at the FBI who were involved in making false statements to the FISA court, which ultimately led to electronic surveillance against the Trump campaign," he added.

As for Congress' investigation into President Donald Trump, it is the "swamp" exerting power.

"Unfortunately, what has happened is the swamp has power, and the swamp is trying to push back," Ray said. "Impeachment is just one of many undertakings that are going on."

Ray backed the White House's refusal to cooperate with House impeachment subpoenas until Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., holds an official vote.

"It's not really an impeachment proceeding until the entire House acts," Ray said. "And under the Constitution that has consequence — not the least of which is that the president doesn't have to freely share information within the executive branch unless and until the House acts in its constitutional authority by conducting a formal impeachment proceeding."
